- I was born in February of 1973 in a small town in Louisiana. My father was stationed at a nearby air base. We moved to Texas shortly thereafter, and spent a couple of years there.
- I moved with my family to Japan. We spent about 4 years in Japan, all the while learning its language and culture. One of the things I treasure most about the trip to Japan was developing an appreciation for the beliefs and practices of other nationalities.
- I moved back to Texas with my family. I remember the summer of that year. It was so hot for so long. I was amazed that any place in the world could be that hot, until I found out there were hotter places.
-83 - Thrilled about the recent introduction of the of the personal computer market, my dad went out and bought the family a computer, the Apple ][+. From the first time it powered up, I was hooked. I've been working with computers non-stop since. We upgraded to a //e and, when introduced, to the Macintosh line of computers. We acquired a PSII as well, though it mostly sat in the corner. (Though I have been primarily a Mac user, I fell in love with Unix while I worked at Motorola. The power of CLI and GUI in one package, what more could you ask for? This is why I'm very happy with Mac OS X, as it's Unix-based.)
- My dad retired from the military at the beginning of the year, so we moved off base to a small town south of Austin. It's where I spent most of my life while growing up.
- At the age of 16, I got my first job, working in a family owned restaurant. I worked there for about a year.
- After spending 4 years trying to find out who I was, who I wasn't, what I wanted and didn't want, I graduated from High School. I had a couple of rough starts, but finally got my first real job at a high tech company. I learned a lot from Motorola: I was introduced to the corporate environment, I was given a good understanding of deadlines and I also learned the nature of supply and demand.
- Could it be true? Did I do it? I actually got a job at Apple Computer! Ah, the world of tech support. There just isn't anything like it.
- Anyone need a start-up? Well, I thought it would be kind of fun. This is where I began to learn the back end of things on the web. I plunged head first into Perl, and oh, what a thrill! To this day I am a big proponent of the language.
- Apple Computer, here I come again. After a year away, I went back to the tech support thing. I love nothing better than to help people with their problems (well, aside from programming of course).
- Ah, Marriage. That first step into the unknown. Here's an idea, lets move half way across the country too.
Baltimore, MD. The city that never sleeps, well as least not much. Not exactly the center of technology, but it will do.
- California, that's the place I ought to be. After a year in Maryland, California seemed like the best place to go. So we packed up and moved out to the Bay Area, where we live today.
